We fund two scholarship programs to help individuals pursuing a career in nursing or assist those already working in the healthcare field to advance their training
Skill Enrichment
Scholarship Program (SESP)
The SESP supports individuals who are pursuing education to work in the healthcare industry or already working in healthcare and want to add to their training, knowledge or education. Funded by the named endowment, The Lee/Irwin Scholarship fund, the programs has been running for over 22 years, and has distributed over $900,000 towards students in the southwest!

The Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation Inc. recognizes that having properly trained and qualified staff working within what was called the Cypress Health Region is as important to the quality of care being provided, as is having new and/or updated equipment.
The Skills Enrichment Scholarship Program (SESP) will support individuals who are prepared to gather the education and training necessary to impact patient care in Southwest Saskatchewan in a positive way.SESP is intended to support individuals who have enrolled and/or are working in the healthcare industry in Southwest Saskatchewan and would like to expand on their training/knowledge/education.
Within the Dr. Noble Irwin Regional Healthcare Foundation Scholarship program, preference will be given to Applicants for “Non-Degree” programs (certification; seminars; apprenticeship challenges etc.) New applicants looking for financial assistance relative to Graduate or Undergraduate programs are encouraged to apply for funding that is available through the McIntyre Family Foundation scholarship program. The three areas of support are CCA – LPN – Other.
RETURN FOR SERVICE
As the intent of the SESP is to assist individuals wanting to work within the healthcare industry and support the healthcare needs of the residents of Southwest Saskatchewan, each Approved Applicant will be required to sign a Return for Service Agreement.
By signing this agreement, Approved Applicants will indicate their willingness to utilize the education/skills they obtain within the former Cypress Health Region for a minimum of 2 years. -

This Endowment Account generates income that is made available semi-annually to fund the two (2) scholarship disbursement sessions that will be approved each year.

The Committee will use the following Disbursement Protocol as a basis for recommending an application for support:
CCA – Maximum funds available per individual will be $3000.00* for the duration of your program.
LPN – Maximum funds available per individual will be $4,000.00* for the duration of your program.
MEDICAL LAB TECH – Maximum funds available per individual will be $4,000.00* for the duration of your program.

An On-line Application Form shall be available for completion by the student/applicant.
Applications will be accepted by the Foundation within established Semi-Annual review periods:
For classes starting in September, the application must be dated prior to JULY 31 of that same year (PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DEADLINE DATE)
For classes starting in January, the application must be dated prior to NOVEMBER 30 of the preceding year.
Southwest Nursing
Commitment Scholarship(SNCS)
The SNCS supports individuals who are in their 3rd or 4th year of a four year nursing degree program. New in 2026, this scholarship is awarded annually and represents a significant financial award for students with $25,000 being awarded to sucessful candidates.
